Overview

About MyShop

Most people prefer to explore a shop online and buy offline, MyShop brings the market to everyones phone. MyShop offers a place for business owners to join the online market with just a few easy steps while also offering shop owners the ability to take online orders.

Most shops in India don’t have an online presence which makes it hard for the community to choose shopping local over places like Amazon, MyShop bridges that gap.

Challenge

MyShop began as a blank slate, with no finalized branding, logo, or established design direction. While this allowed for complete creative freedom, it also required building a cohesive brand identity and user experience from the ground up.

Our objective was to create a shopping experience that felt trustworthy, reliable, and intuitive for everyday users while developing a visual system that could confidently compete within the retail market.

Solution

We designed a platform that enables shop owners to easily register their business and manage key operational needs in one place. This includes tracking business metrics, processing and monitoring online orders, managing inventory, and maintaining direct communication with customers in real time.

Research

Client Questions

As a team, we created over 30 discovery questions to gain a deeper understanding of MyShop’s objectives, user needs, and design expectations. The questions explored areas such as UI inspiration, product vision, and cultural context specific to Indian shoppers, helping us ensure the experience was both relevant and user centered.

Compensative Analysis/ User Stories

Before starting the design, I defined and prioritized user stories to identify the platform’s most essential functions. Ranking these needs by importance helped establish a clear MVP scope and ensured that key user workflows were supported first.

This prioritization directly informed the feature set and overall structure of the experience, keeping the design focused on usability and core business goals.

Ideate

Site Map

After defining user needs and prioritizing core features, we created a sitemap to organize the platform’s structure and define clear relationships between key pages.

This helped reduce ambiguity early in the process and ensured the navigation system remained intuitive, scalable, and aligned with user and client expectations.

Color Exploration

We explored color psychology to support both trust and usability in an e-commerce environment. Green was associated with growth and progress for shop owners, while blue conveyed trust and reliability for customers.

Initially, we considered separate color systems for each user type to clearly distinguish roles. However, after evaluating accessibility requirements and client feedback, we refined the palette into a unified teal. This solution balanced both needs while maintaining clarity, trust, scalability and visual cohesion across the platform.

Client Feedback

Following our first wireframes we had the most client feedback of the whole project. As a team we worked quickly to resolve all the pain points while still keeping the user in mind.

Style Guide

As part of the final deliverables, we also created a style guide that established MyShop’s brand personality and outlined all core UI elements. This ensured visual consistency across the product while giving the client a clear system to maintain and expand the future customer portal.
