My time at Booz Allen Hamilton gave me the opportunity to work at the intersection of user experience, accessibility, and large scale digital transformation. I collaborated cross functionally with developers, stakeholders, and government partners to design intuitive, user centered solutions that balanced complex requirements with usability and 508 compliance standards. The experience strengthened my ability to lead through ambiguity, communicate effectively across teams, and advocate for thoughtful, accessible design decisions in fast paced environments

Challenge
This application supported claims processing across thousands of offices globally, making reliability and continuity critical to daily operations. The challenge was modernizing an outdated rule engine and introducing Section 508 compliance while maintaining existing functionality and minimizing disruption to established user workflows within a tight production timeline.
Solution
Maintaining continuity in language, workflows, and core functionality from the previous application was a critical objective within the constraints of the business timeline. My focus was on preserving user familiarity and minimizing friction while thoughtfully introducing Section 508 compliance standards through accessible, scalable design solutions.

Request Form
Challenge
The request process evolved from inconsistent person to person email communication and a partially functioning legacy modal into a fully modernized request form experience. While the existing application met many compliance standards, usability gaps created friction for users. Through a complete redesign, I partnered closely with engineers and a primary user stakeholder to ensure critical requirements were preserved while creating a more intuitive and scalable workflow.
Solution
The solution was a fully redesigned request form that streamlined the submission process into a clear, scalable workflow while maintaining alignment with business and user needs. I introduced full Section 508 compliance standards, implemented consistent patterns from the design system to improve usability and development efficiency, and translated complex technical fields into more intuitive, learnable language to reduce user friction and improve form completion confidence.

User Flows
When implementing new features with multiple conditional paths, I created detailed click-by-click user flows and visual process charts to support development handoff and cross-functional alignment. Providing flows in multiple formats helped accommodate different learning and communication styles, ensuring complex requirements were clearly understood and accurately implemented.
